Aiming Higher
| The Corporation is aiming higher this year, 2008. It is planning to disburse a total of 225 million pesos worth of loan disbursals to partner microfinance organizations this year. SEEDFINANCE is also increasing the delivery of training and technical assistance to partner microfinance organizations to assist them to expand their operations or set up new branches. From a combined client outreach 310,000 people in 2007, it is expected that SEEDFINANCE's client outreach will reach 350,000 people by the end of 2008.
The retail small enterprise loans will be introduced also this year, which is aligned with the five-year Business Plan's objective to diversify the services and sources of incomes of the Corporation. These retail loans will be offered, on co-financing basis with selected partner organizations, to people whose business have grown beyond the microenterprise level into the small enterprise level. We call these enterprises as "Graduating Micros" (or GM for short) because they have graduated from being microenterprises but are still establishing themselves to become viable small enterprises. The GM loans will range from Php 300,000 to Php1.5 million. Clients may use them to purchase business assets such as delivery trucks, freezers, computers, rice mills, office equipment or to increase the business' working capital.
The Corporation will also allow partner microfinance organizations to become part owners of the Corporation by allowing them to purchase shares of stocks, both common and preferred shares. This will make the 'sense of ownership' even stronger and will greatly increase the capital base of the Corporation.
